Fresh Start- Tree cutting
Fresh start was amazing. I didn't know how much cutting down trees at the Hartman Center could bond the group so much hahaha!

This was such a good experience, I met a great group of people and had such a fun day. Even though we got soaked we felt really satisfied with all we did.

This was such a good experience, I'm so glad I did it! I met some good friends and would definitely do it again.
We went to the Mid-State Literacy Center, where tutors help people to learn English and basic skills to succeed in the US. We had a good experience, our group was fun and Amy was very sweet and grateful. The office space her program had was crowded and disorganized, but after a day of light-bulb changing and recycling it looked awesome. Fresh START was a good idea. :)
Fresh Start 2012
Fresh Start was really a great way to meet new people and help out others. It was a lot of fun working with other new students and fellow freshman. I made a lot of friends and enjoyed the activities we participated in.
I really enjoyed working with kids at Discovery Space. It made me realize how bright and creative kids can be when given the opportunity. I liked helping them problem solve and watching them work together on different projects and activities. I'm glad they were able to learn and have fun at the same time!
Today I volunteered at the Discovery Space with four other girls, helping out at the various exhibits and showing kids how things work. It was a really rewarding experience because we got to teach the kids and watch them learn how things work. I really enjoyed being in that environment and I am so happy I had the opportunity to be a part of it.
Discovery Space
I had an amazing time at the Discovery Space today! I am really glad I was put into this group because Iabsolutely love working with children. It was really exciting to watch all the children be extremely creative in the arts and crafts room. If I could, I would definately do it all over again.
Fresh Start 2012
Not only did I make many new friends today, experience my first Slip N' Slide, and get a free tshirt, but I also helped as much as I could in making THON the best expeirnce possible for the kids. By cleaning the mats, I helped enable kids with cancer to have an unforgettable weekend by being able to play in an envirnment where they don't have to worry about their health. Even such a small healthy spot will make such a big difference in their night, and I couldn't be happier that I was able to take part in bringing them joy.
THON is fun
Today was fun and great. I've met new friends, worked for the kids and families, and had fun.
Fresh start was an amazing experience. I loved every part about the day and made friends with people I think I will keep for a long time. It is an amazing feeling knowing that you helped others and I will definitely jump on any other opportunities I canget to get more involved with not only this project but other Thon volunteer work as well

I had so much fun. i love rain! it was soo much fun. and we got to slide on the mats and dance in the rain. :D and it was good to help the comunity.
Best day ever!
Today was one of the best days I ever had. It is nderful feeling knowing that the work I have done today will benefit many many people. Through my work I have also made some new friends and have vreated many memories. people should volunteer more so they can feel how wonderful I feel now.
Fresh Start
Fresh start gives me a great opportunity to do meaning things back to society. It is also such a good chance for me, a freshman, to meet more friends who love coummunity service as I do. I would love to do more things like this for Thon.
A Wet Fresh Start
The Fresh Start program was a great way to get together with old and new friends and volunteer for a great cause. Other than the weather, I had so much fun cleaning the "canning" cans for THON. Knowing the Fresh Start program helps out so many people gives me the best feeling!!
YAY FRESH START!
So honestly, I wasn't expecting today to be that much fun. Wake up at 8am to do service? Not enjoyable! I was surprised how amazing Fresh Start was today, even in the pouring rain! We helped out by cleaning out cans for THON, and I know that my few hours I put in today will make a difference in raising money For The Kids, FTK! I loved meeting other freshman and bonding with them over the service project. Fresh Start was an amazing experience!

I came into this program, not knowing what to expect. I wasn't expecting it to rain or anything, but I had a lot of fun, despite the bad weather. Helping out the community, especially for THON feels great and I'm happy I was a part of this. I plan on attending more community service events, helping the community a little more than before. I'm glad I met all of the people that I have and I'm taking a lot away with me from this experience. WOOT.

the rain is heavy. every work needs patient. so when we put emphasis on something and work hard. we will make it.
Fresh start is a cool volunteer activity. I finally find that I can do something to others. During this session, I cleaned mat with my groupmate. Not only I cooperate a lot with others, but also I enjoyed a lot during cleaning, like listening to music, dancing, and laughing. Although I have never done the volunteer job before, I am definitly sure that I will do this kind of job as more as possible. Happy

Today was a great experience, I helped clean the matts for thon. Now the matts will be safe for the children to play and walk on, even with weak immune systems. I enjoyed meeting new people and making so many new friends while giving back to the community. For the kids!!!
Fresh Start was a great opportunity to start volunteering at Penn State. Being able to help clean the THON mats was such a great and rewarding experience. Helping with THON definitely makes me want to take advantage of all the other ways to help with THON and also other volunteer opportunities at Penn State. Fresh Start was an awesome experience!

Today was an enlightening experience. To see and be a part of only a small bit of THON was really great. I'm so glad I could contribute and hopefully make a difference!
fresh start
Fresh start was a fun experience. No volunteer project that I've done was like this, but it felt nice to know that what we were doing was going towards a good cause. Although I could have done without standing outside in the pouring rain for three hours, it was still fun and I enjoyed being a part of it.

Today I was able to make a difference in the lives of the families and dancers who attend THON by cleaning the THON mats. I was able to meet new people, have a lot of fun, but still make a difference. It was a very rewarding experience and I am so glad I did it. It may not have went completely as planned with the rain, but I won't trade my experience for anything. Fresh START was awesome!!
Beautiful when wet
fresh start group c for thon mats was a blast! none of us knew each other before but immediately bonded while singing along to the bumping music. we were all soaked after the walk home (and freezing) but kept up good spirits!
Today was an awesome experience and it felt so good to know that we were helping out for THON. Pediatric cancer has been very close to my heart ever since my best friend was diagnosed a couple of years ago. THON is a great cause and I plan on getting even more involved after today. In the future I plan on taking advantage of more of these opportunities to help out. Fresh Start was great!

I had a better time than I expected for cleaning mats. Lots of dancing and slip n' sliding. Also my team is the best looking group of people on campus ever. Especially after all the soap, dirt and rain (slippery)

I thought that Fresh Start was a lot of fun. I was cleaning the thon mats which was a blast! It hurts your knees a bit but its worth it. The slip and slide after was a lot of fun, it made us wet for walking back in the game. I really want to be a group leader next time becasue I had a lot of fun!
Fresh Start was definitley worth woaking up early on a saturday morning. Through this experience I met new friends, new mentors and still have a lot of fun. Cleaning the mats was defintley labour intensive, but singing with the DJ made it fun. Slip and slide was defintley the highlight and dancing with others was a fun bonus throughout.

FRESH START was amazing!!! I washed mats for THON, and I can honestly say that it was one of the most fun, interesting, and rewarding experiences I have had so far at Penn State. I met so many interesting people while contributing to a great cause, and meeting so many interesting individuals reminded me how diverse and incredible this university truly is. Reflection
Fresh Start was a pretty fun and I met a lot of new people, but the rain made it a bit difficult to do anything without being soaking wet. Overall though I feel the event helped and it gave me an opportunity to talk to new people.
From the very first moment I walked in, I knew this was going to be an awesome experience. Today we helped clean mats for THON. It's great knowing I can do something simple and put in some of my time to really have an impact on other people. The feeling is very rewarding and I intend to continue on with service to the community.
Thon Matssssssss
I had an absolute blast today. I've been having sucha difficult time making friends, but today changed that. I had so omuch fun cleaning the mats, not to mention doing the slip and slide! I feel like today broke me out of my shell. It was awesome
Foxdale Village
My FreshStart volunteering experience to Foxdale village was very cool and I enjoyed it very much. The senior citizens there were very amiable and wanted to talk to us young people. Although we werent there for a very long time, I cherish the time I had there because I myself do not have grandparents so talking to them is almost like talking to my grandparents. I would like to go back again one day if I can.

Going into this day of service, I wasnt expecting to have much fun cleaning THON mats.. Once arriving on the job when it was pouring rain, the experience kinda sucked, but I got to meet new people which is always a plus!
Foxdale Village
Being a part of FreshStart today allowed me to learn more about the community sorrounding campus. Not only did we get to drive around State College and see the mountains and other sites that the town has to offer, we got to meet some of the older citizens who lived at Foxdale Village. We got to connect with the residents and the employees, as well as with each other. FreshStart was truly a wonderful experience that allowed me to branch out and make new connections while having an amazing time!
Fresh Start in the Rain
It is such a fun day. I feel like I have done a lot of works and also make new friends. The only thing is the weather. It is fun but also everyone gets soaked. But overall, it is a great day.

Fresh Start gave me an opportunity to be a part of THON right from the start. Cleaning mats was a simple job, but I know that it is imperative during THON that the mats be clean to keep the dancers, and especially the kids, safe and healthy. I met a lot of great people and had a lot of fun doing it too!
Volunteer is so good.
It's an awesome activity. I get to know more about the THON also realized that even everyone only do a little bit, the total with be very influential. I figured out THON is very cool because it helps a lot of people. Volunteering helps a lot of people too. I'm gonna keep on volunteering.
Fresh Start
Fresh Start definitely lived up to any expectations I had. Actually, we worked a lot harder than I thought we were going to! Scrubbing the mats was strenuous labor. But what was most important was that we had a fun time doing our service. We knew it was for a good purpose; the mats needed to be cleaned because kids and people are going to be dancing on them. We needed to prevent people from possibly getting sick. I am happy that I signed up for Fresh Start. I feel good for doing something that I know was for a good cause.

Although it's raining a lot and we didn't get to do what we were originally planning on doing, I still felt that I made a difference. I got to draw pictures for kids at THON, and I wish that I would be able to see their faces when they get them. Hopefully on a nicer day I will be able to go back to the arborteum and do some volunteer work there

Volunteering means a lot of things, not only things that we can obviously see like picking up trash, socializing with community, or others. Fresh Start helps me learn another meaning of volunteering just by participating. :)
Fresh START 2012
As a team leader, I was a little nervous about leading a group through the day. We had some bumps along the way (weather) that changed initial plans, but we managed to have a fun day and get to know each other. Making mail for kids and dancers was great! I think the freshman really had a good day.
Fresh Start Fun
It may be raining, but nothing can rain on my parade. With a tour of the aboreum followed by making cards for sick kids, and a group bal game, this was one of the funest days of my life.
Fresh Start was a great experience. I went to the arboretum and got to learn a lot about the trees, plants, and other organisms. It was very interesting to hear about how old some of the trees were and some of the services that were performed there. After, at Heritage Hall, we got to make decorations for Thon and play games with friends. It was an awesome time at Fresh Start.

Fresh Start was such a fun experience - I met so many new people and reconnected with old friends too! It was a great way to get to know my community here in State College and helped me settle in and get acclamated to life at Penn State.
